Day 71 Saturday 20th April, Location; Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park

Today we got up early time to pack up and move on.

Once again last night the winds were up and the seas were roaring. So I didnt sleep very well at all again.

Today we headed west over to Cape Liptrap to camp overnight then on to Wilsons Prom for a bit of a boo peep.

We called in to Port Albert to have a look around. It was so bitterly cold, Rena was almost blue by the time we got back in the car. Normally I read the signs and take a photo of them for memory. Today it was take the photo and read later. SO COLD!!!!!

Back in the car and got to take the back roads, such nice scenery. That is one thing about this trip we have not stuck to highway one and we have got to see alot of Australia that people dont normally see.

We stoped at the Franklin River Rest Area for a pit stop, what a beautiful spot. I think you can camp here, there is a little man made water feature, good amenities and a couple of covered picnic areas.

James noticed that the lights on the camper were not working, so I took the opportunity to make a cup of tea. Ahhhhhh!!! got to love hot cup of tea on a cold day and also travel mugs.

Got to Forest closest major town to the Prom. Followed prompts from GPS and headed out to Cape Liptrap. WOW another wonderful surprise. After setting up we went for a bit of a walk along the coastline. Absolutely beautiful, a camera just does not capture what the human eye can see. It just does not do it justice to some of these beautiful places.

At least the wind isnt howling here tonight, but in bed early, up early tomorrow to explore the lighthouse before heading over to the Prom.

Day 70 Friday 19th April 2013, Location; Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park

After the pounding that we got last night we decided that a sleep in was on the cards and not to move on today.

I didnt sleep very well at all last night, get got pounded. But the camper and the new thermal blanket held up well.

With the water tanks refreshed after getting water from town yesterday I had a nice hot shower. Ahhh!!!!! Water is such a precious commodity when you are in a camper trailer, you really appreciate it.

Today I lazed around a bit and fired up the laptop time to start sorting out the photos. I had started this the other night, big lesson learnt, Check the settings on the camera before taking photos, saves on post processing time. Also that you need to stick to one naming convention don't change half way through a trip and then go back to original.

Anyway lesson learnt, will take a bit, but I am sure by the end of the trip, the photos will all be done.

Well tonight I cooked early as the weather was closing in again. Another wet and windy night.

Day 69 Thursday 18th April 2013, Location; Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park

Today we headed into Sale as it was a bitterly cold day.

On the shopping list was 1 x Axe, 1 x Washing bucket and agitator, and 1 x Coleman Gas Bottle.

On our way to Sale James did another geocache, (he is getting to do alot of these)

Once in Sale we found the camping store and got an axe and the gas bottle. Very helpful and friendly. Great service. Looked at getting a sleeping back rated at -5 for Rena, but as she still occasionally wets the bed, that was rulled out really quickly. No point paying for a good sleeping back and the stuff it the first time I wash it.

Then up to the Chemist, Rivers and you guessed it we found the bakery and had some lunch before heading off to Bunnings. It was so new they were still stocking the shelves but had what we needed, so we were happy campers, Rena even got a balloon so even she was happy.

On our way back to camp we called in to the township of Loch Sport. Wow what a quaint little coastal town. We headed to the surf beach and saw Nessie on the way. James got to do another geocache.

At at beach it was beautiful but very windy. So we headed back to camp and time to cook dinner.

Since it was still so bitterly cold we headed off to bed early.

A bad storm rolled in lots of lightning wind and rain.

Day 68 Wednesday 17th April 2013, Location; Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park

Day at camp.

RELAXATION AHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Day 67 Tuesday 16th April, Location Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park

Today we had a rather lazy morning, showers, cleaning etc before heading in to Sale to do the shopping.

Major restock as we have only done little bits here and there for a while. Off to Safeway, ouch at the check out, we then headed back home to camp via the Swing Bridge.

Wow what a marvel of engineering. It is amazing, toll roads even back then to pay for bridges.

We decided to take the long road back and call in via Golden Beach and Paradise Beach. Both are very quaint little coastal holiday towns.

Rena loved the playground at Golden Beach and found a little boy to play with. We had trouble getting her back in the car, but we needed to get back to camp as it was now well after 4 pm

We called in toe the Tribuclo wreck, there is not much to see above the sand now, I imagine that it will not be long at all and you will not be able to see this wreck. James found his geocache, so back in the car and back to camp.

Back at camp and sort out the groceries and have a very hot cup of tea, ahhhhhh

Day 66 Monday 15th April, Location; Gippsland Lakes Coast Park

Today we set up camp to stay for a week, so annex up and also the side walls. It is amazing what you can make do with what you want to. The Gazebo walls make great annex walls for the camper and are very light weight and compact too.

We then went and explored a bit, nice little campspot behind the dune with a pit toilet. And it had paper too. There was a little bit of rubbish in the bush from the previous campers when you looked, even was an office chair, what you would want with one of them whilst you are camping is beyond me. Why cant some people take home what they bring.

There really is no reason for leaving rubbish here over the summer holiday period as the council provide a weekly rubbish collection service.

Anyway nag over, time to do some hand washing, about 2 hours later and clothes all washed, Renas sheets & bedding all washed too.

Time to sit back and relax for a little bit.

Day 65 Sunday 14th April 2013, Location; Balley Hooley Campground

I got up early to explore and take photos, well worth getting up early, what a pristine place. Beautiful!!!! WOW WOW WOW, well worth the drive here.

Pack up and off to Buchan Caves.

We arrived at Buchan Caves with about 1 1/2 hours to kill before the next cave tour so we bought our tickets, looked through the visitor centre and then let Rena play in the playground whilst I made lunch. James went and did another geocache.

Lunch had we drove up to the Royal Cave and parked and walked up and waited for the tour to start.
Well words will never describe what we saw, at every turn there was something to see and wow doesnt cover it.

After the tour we headed up and over the hill to the Fairy Cave and waited for our guide (who had just done the previous tour with us) and with fewer in this group no one would put their hand up to be the lead, and well Rena was volunteered, :) she was happy about this, so she got her instructions and off we headed in to the cave first. this was great for me and i was basically the first person to see anything.

As with the previous cave WOW doesnt even start to explain this cave, it is truely spectacular and if you are in Victoria I highly recommend coming and seeing it. Very reasonably priced too. (Rena got in for free).

So glad that I bought the book on the Caves, so much of what they tell you whilst on the tour you forget, so glad I got the book.

We certainly got our exercise in today between the 2 caves and the over the hill walk and my early morning walk.

After the coast we headed towards the coast again, needed a free camp to hang out at for a couple of days until we either hear form the real estate agent or the insurance company. This time we headed to Ninety Mile Beach and chose to camp down near the township of Seaspray.

Arrived at the campspot about 5 pm and with rain approaching we set up for an overnight camp and then had dinner just made it inside before the storm hit and the heavens opened up.
