We decided that today we would explore the local beaches. We headed off for Shoalhaven Heads. Whilst driving over to the coast we passed by the hill that was deverstated by that mini tornado. What destruction.
When we arrived at Shoalhaven Heads James got to do a geocache and I got to explore the beach a bit with Rena. It is obvious that the destruction to the beaches that happened in Qld due to the recent bad weather also has hit the beaches down here too..
We then headed up the coast to Gerroa to do a bit of fossil hunting (geocaching as well), the day was a bit misserable and windy but we still got to enjoy the headland and rocks. Even if Rena didnt. James got his geocaching fix and I got a walk down memory lane. Went to these same rocks in high school for an excursion hunting for fossils back then too.
At this stage Rena was getting a bit grumpy so we headed for Gerringong and the bakery to pick up some bread for lunch. We headed down to Werri beach and had lunch. Love this area.
After lunch we headed for the cemetary as I have a few relatives burried here, as they were early settlers to the area. Unfortunately we didnt find them, so back in the car and up to Kiama we headed. Back to the post office and no our mail has still not arrived yet. Bought my darrel lea licorice fix and back to car, then off to the little blow hole and got some pics. And you guessed it, this time my Pentax camera the battery went flat. :)
After our sight seeing we headed to wollies so I could get some seafood for Good Friday. Madness, the car park was jam packed but we snagged a street park and I ran across the road, it was even more madness inside wollies, anyway, I got prawns for Good Friday as they didnt have any fresh Australian Fish that was under $30 a kilo and back to the car.
We had the slight traffic jam between Kiama and Gerringong which you would expect for the Thursday afternoon before Easter.
Tomorrows destination will depend upon the weather.

Friday 29th March
Today was a walk down memory lane for me, we headed south for St Georges Basin to show James where I lived when I was a kid.
Basin View, and pulled up at the boat ramp. Still just as beautiful but there was that cold breeze blowing across the basin. Brought back memories of waiting for the bus in winter and freezing my bottom off in the mornings.
Back in the car and the drive around Basin View trying to find mum and dads old house. Not sure if it just isnt there anymore or I couldnt remember it, but there are alot of new houses around there.
Off to St Georges Basin and down Talyann Point Rod and found mum and dads old place there. Still the same. The to Sanctuary Point, James was a bit, off there it was, but we went back to Leumeah St and my family home was still there surrounded by new houses, a few of the original houses remained but there was alot of new houses.
Off to Greville Aveune and Nana and Grandpops house has been leveled and a new mansion is now in its place. It goes the whole length of the block. Huge. Down to Palm Beach and it is still the same. Was too cold to hop in the water much to Rena's dissapointment.
We then headed for Vincentia wow hasnt this place changed, headed for nudist beach, found it (well thats what mum use to call it) and Rena went for a paddle, was too cold for me to hop in. (Definately acclimatised to Qld now)
Off to Huskinson and had lunch at a park, we went for a walk along the beach and Rena sure enough needed to go to the toilet so off we go for a long walk, only toilet near where we were was up near the Husky Pub. Guess what is there, a big kids playground, so eventually James found us there.
James being a great dad that he is, when Rena climbed to the top he was straight up to help her down if she needed it. Rena being stubborn and well tried to make it all the way down on her own.
By this time it was 3.30 pm and walked back to the car then drove around the the Husky RSL and parked there and went for a walk along the breakwall to see if the pool was still there and it is, but now has a big pool fence around it, the canon is now gorn and replaced with a kids playground, and you guessed it, Rena tried it out.
Back in the car and the trip back to Berry. What a full on beautiful day.

Saturday 30th March
Today we decided that we would held to Nowra and see if we could get the parts to make our own Thermal Blanket and get some much needed track pants (was a cold night again last night).
We pulled in to Kmart and I think everyone in Nowra decided to visit that particular shopping centre at the same time as us. Luckily we snagged a parking spot. Inside it was madness. We headed for Kmart and got the track pants and a new jumper for James. Then got the hell out of there.
Off to spotlight and got parts to make the thermal blanket. Then off to South Nowra to Bunnings. Unfortunately Bunnings at South Nowra no longer stock the Air-Cell and it is special order only (damn should have got it in Brissie).
Oh well back in car and off to BCF and Joyce Mayne. Got what we were after, by this time we were feeling a bit peckish (3.30pm) and headed to the Shoalhaven River on the north side near the golf course and had a bite to eat. We got a spot opposite the cliffs and it was beautiful (if not cold the wind brrrr).
Back to Berry a bit dissapointed that we couldnt get the air-cell will have to try the hardware shop on Tuesday on our way south.
Sunday 31st March
Todays destination Jervis Bay.
We called in to Hymes Beach and I think everyone else decided to do the same as us, it was packed. We couldnt get a parking spot anywhere near Hymes Beach and got one near Chinamans Beach. Went for a walk and it started to rain so headed back to the car, James did a little bit of geocaching but came back empty handed/
We then headed for Jervis Bay National Park, paid our $11 entrance fee and headed up to the end of the road.
