Day 44 - 46 Sunday 24th - Tuesday 26th March 2013; Location Flat Rock Camping Area (Near O'Connor)

Another wonderful find. Not all that flat except at the bottom but we found one flat enough spot for us half way up the hill so we decided over breakfast that we would stay here for a couple of days, so after breakfast, out came the annex roof and we set up to stay for a couple of days.

Spent the morning hand washing the clothes that the stupid machine at the laundromat decided to make dirtier than they originally were. (Soaked them overnight in nappysan, amazing stuff).

Set up the shower, and we all had tubs, then lunch and time to relax. Sometimes the time just flies by.

Rena is happy as overnight a caravan pulled up next to us and they have 3 kids (one 3 yr old girl) and are also travelling around Australia but in the opposite direction to us. When they pulled out their toys Rena eyes nearly popped out of her head and couldnt wait to go play with her new found friends and their toys. YAY!!! you could almost hear Rena saying it out loud.

Definately might think about buying a spacebox and getting Rena some more toys to play with.

We also decided that we are going to try and get or make a tropical roof for the camper, even with very light very old flys over the top it makes a huge difference inside the camper.

Monday 25th March
Today after much thought, and the fact that we are not prepared for really cold nights that we would come back another time and do Jenolan and Wombeyan Caves in a seperate trip when Rena is older than 7 years old (This is way she will enjoy it more and we can save up and do more than one cave tour per site)

We have decided that we will head for the coast, although James is a bit concerned as to whether we will get a site due to Easter, but we will give it a go as both Rena and I dont even have a pair of track pants to keep us warm at night and we need an extra blanket for our bed, we will head for the coast and try our luck. Also be able to visit the shops then and at least get a pair of track pants each.

It was nice to have enough water to have showers when ever we wanted. It really makes you appreciate what you have at home when you are free camping.

Tuesday 26th March
Today we were rudely interrupted from our sleep in by the mowers, but we can't complain they left us alone until we packed up camp, unfortunately for our neighbours with the WA number plates they made sure that they were awake and out of bed. :)

Anyway I am getting a little excited, todays destination the South Coast. I am really looking forward to showing James around the coast.

After going through Oberon we headed south, James was going to go via Goulburn, but I said look at the map, the Wombeyan Caves Road is half the distance, surely it wont take that much extra time :)
Well I was wrong, I had white knuckles at spots and I was really glad that James was driving, good for future reference for when we come and do the caves.

Beautiful scenery, the lookout was spectacular, and the tunnel WOW our forebearers did wonderful achievements with pick and shovel and bit of tnt.

After the caves road we headed for Bowral and got a gas bottle refil and then headed for the coast. the GPS sent us the backway, so we got to see the back roads.

James got to experience Macquarie Pass. :) At one point I thought he had collected a car going the other way, was on the really really tight turn near the top.

We didnt get to see much scenery in the distance due to the smog, but what we did see was spectacular.

Our destination for the night was at Shellharbour, wow havent things changed around here.

When we finally found our campsite, we set up camp and I decided to have a shower as not long after we set up camp 3 bus loads of school kids turned up for a school camp. So off I headed to make sure I got a hot shower.

Back to camp and trying to cook dinner in the dark with lots of wind and even more midgies and mozzies. Not a happy camper tonight.
